Online conference Economic and social transformation of Slovenia in times of the fourth industrial revolution (11 November 2020)
In the last 15 years, Slovenia has made slower progress in economic development than comparable countries, which requires strategic reflection on the changes needed not only because of long-term megatrends, but also because of the covid-19 epidemic and the “new normality”.

What are the main challenges and how can Slovenia become more successful in this changing world full of uncertainties? What are the key factors of its too low competitiveness and productivity that should be addressed to achieve healthy growth in the well-being of the population in the long term? What opportunities and risks are associated with the transition to the fourth industrial revolution to boost productivity growth? What should companies do for a successful transformation? What should be done by the government?
These are some of the questions that domestic and foreign experts will attempt to answer at the conference Economic and social transformation of Slovenia in times of the fourth industrial revolution organised by the Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development (IMAD) and the European Commission Representation in Slovenia.
The challenges of economic and social transformation in Slovenia will be addressed in three sessions:
- Presentation of the National Productivity Report 2020, an annual publication in which IMAD, in its role of the National Productivity Board, prepares a review of the situation and identifies key factors for faster productivity growth;
- Slovenia's competitiveness and productivity in a changing world, a session in which representatives of institutions (the European Commission and the Government of the Republic of Slovenia), social partners and the academic community will present their views;
- Accelerating the digital transformation in Slovenia and Slovenia’s development perspectives in the new normality, a session with a panel discussion, in which experts from the research community and business will discuss the above-mentioned issues.

The conference will be moderated by Ms Maja Derčar, journalist of the Radio Slovenia news programme. Simultaneous interpretation (Slovenian, English) will be provided.
Due to the current epidemiological situation and the measures to contain the spread of the covid-19 epidemic, the conference will be held entirely online via the platform Congress Rental Network, which allows easy switching between English and Slovenian and the possibility of active participation. Due to the limited number of listeners (180), we invite you to register as soon as possible via the online form.
