Conference: Structural Challenges of the Slovenian Economy
Slovenia, Ljubljana, Hotel Slon, 8 July 2014
Many structural problems of the Slovenian economy have worsened over the last five years since the outbreak of the crisis. Identifying these problems and analysing the effectiveness of measures for their solution is essential for Slovenia to reach stable economic growth. In cooperation with the European Commission Representation in Slovenia, the Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development will provide an opportunity to exchange thoughts and ideas about fiscal policy issues, indebtedness of the Slovenian corporate sector and challenges on the labour market.
We are preparing a one-day international conference that will take place on Tuesday, 8 July 2014, from 9 am to 3 pm in Ljubljana (Hotel Slon).
It will be divided into three sessions:
i. Short-term and medium-term challenges for fiscal policy
ii. Indebtedness and deleveraging of Slovenian enterprises
iii. Identifying the key challenges on the Slovenian labour market and analysing the progress in meeting the goals of the labour market reform in 2013.
The conference will be concluded by a panel discussion with experts and prominent representatives of international institutions.
The conference will feature experts from international institutions, i.e. the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the European Commission (EC), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and foreign universities, as well as prominent representatives from the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Labour, Family and Social Affairs, the Bank of Slovenia and various university faculties.
