Structural policy challenges
The economic and financial crisis has, together with deteriorated demographic developments, highlighted structural imbalances that impede economic recovery in Slovenia and, in particular, the achievement of lasting economic growth and fiscal sustainability. According to domestic and international institutions, the key structural imbalances include low productivity of the economy, low activity of certain population groups, inadequate adjustment to demographic changes, and the still large structural deficit and rising debt of the general government.
